The Clients Goal:
This client came to us with a kitchen that no longer met the needs of their growing family. The space was cramped, outdated, and lacked the organization and flow required for busy daily routines and holiday gatherings. On top of that, there was no dedicated mudroom, leaving shoes, coats, and backpacks with nowhere to land. The challenge was to rework the existing footprint to create more functional space while honoring the client’s very specific aesthetic vision for the kitchen, which leaned toward an organic modern style with clean lines, natural materials, and thoughtful details.
Our Solution:
We designed a modest yet impactful addition off the back of the house to serve as the new kitchen, allowing us to repurpose the existing kitchen area as a dedicated mudroom. This strategic move created a more logical flow through the home and freed up space for a more comfortable and spacious dining area. The new kitchen was tailored to the client’s design preferences, with large windows that bring in natural light and a strong visual connection to the backyard. Key features include appliance garages for clean countertops, warm wood accents, stone surfaces, and a custom-fabricated metal oven hood that serves as the sculptural centerpiece of the space. The result is a functional and beautifully detailed environment that supports everyday living and creates space for the moments that matter most.
