White Mountains Residence

Plymouth, NH

The Clients Goal:

Perched at the top of a retired local ski mountain in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, this project needed to balance big landscape with everyday practicality. The clients are a young couple designing their forever home, a place to settle down, start a family, and stay long-term. They wanted the simplicity and comfort of ranch-style, first-floor living, including a large primary suite, an open kitchen and living area, and a private guest suite. At the same time, they wanted room to grow into, with dedicated spaces for entertaining and fitness, without the home feeling oversized or disconnected from the site.

Our Solution:

We designed a new construction ranch that is shaped by the land it sits on. The building form and orientation take advantage of the site’s natural slope, allowing the home to maintain true first-floor living while seamlessly incorporating a walkout basement below. Upstairs, the plan prioritizes an open concept kitchen and living area oriented for light and views, anchored by a spacious primary ensuite and a separate guest bedroom suite for privacy. Downstairs, the walkout level expands the home’s functionality with generous entertaining space and a full home gym, creating a flexible lower floor that supports this active, mountain-based lifestyle. The result is a forever home that feels grounded in the landscape, easy to live in, and ready for the next chapter.
