ROASTED PEPPERS CO-WORKING

Project Description

We chose Roasted Peppers, a pizzeria that remains idle throughout the day due to its focus on delivery and pickup orders. It is located in Maynard, Massachusetts, an old mill town that has so much history. One of the biggest Internet companies was established here in the 70’s but then moved to another location, leaving thousands of square feet useless.The town’s historical significance and the abandoned mill building presented a unique opportunity to create a nonrigid alternative that goes beyond a typical coworking or dining space.To do so, we divided the program into ‘care’ and ‘support’ categories. By incorporating mobile panels, the open space can transform based on its itinerant function

We consider that flexibility of the layout and furniture is key for the development of good coworking. As well, as we mentioned before, the clear access to communal resources that can enhance and invite the user to interact with others is a key factor in our design proposal. With the versatility of the proposed furniture, ranging from ‘booth seats’ to ‘bleachers’ to both more public and more private accommodations, we can provide the users with different levels of privacy and interaction while facilitating new opportunities through care and support.
